The Lester Patrick Official Hockey Puck

In the 1940s and/or ‘50s, a firm called Mullin and McKean of New York produced a puck with Lester Patrick’s name on it. Two versions of the Lester Patrick Official Hockey Puck have appeared on eBay. One came in a box that just had an image of the puck (which said “Lester Patrick Official Hockey Puck” on it) and identified its manufacturer on the side. The other had a portrait of Lester and his signature on one side and the puck image on the back.

I have no idea how many of these sold but the Saginaw News carried an ad in its Jan. 21, 1951 edition revealing they sold for 49 cents each at Sam’s sporting goods (the equivalent of $5.85 US or $8.42 Cdn today).
One of them sold in October 2024 on eBay for $40 US. There’s also an interesting one for sale with an asking price of $5,000. It does not have the original box but is signed by NHL players including Alfie Moore, Red Hammill, and Terry Reardon. It’s not clear if the signatures were all obtained at one or separately.
I can’t find much on Mullin and McKean, although they appear to have been in business as of the 1930s. In addition to pucks, they made cast iron toys.
